Bodega Ferrer Bobet

Priorat, Spain

Bodega Ferrer Bobet is a winery located in the Priorat wine region of Catalonia, Spain. The winery was founded by Sergi Ferrer-Salat and Raül Bobet in 2002. Priorat is known for producing high-quality wines, particularly red wines made from Garnacha and Cariñena grapes grown in the region’s unique slate soil, known as “llicorella.”

Sergi Ferrer-Salat, a Spanish businessman, and Raül Bobet, a renowned winemaker, joined forces to create Bodega Ferrer Bobet with the aim of producing exceptional wines that reflect the terroir and character of Priorat. They acquired vineyards in the area and embarked on a mission to produce top-quality wines while also promoting sustainable viticulture practices.

One of their flagship wines is called “Ferrer Bobet,” which is a blend of Garnacha and Cariñena grapes. The winery emphasizes traditional winemaking techniques combined with modern technology to craft wines that showcase the region’s unique characteristics. Their commitment to quality and sustainability has earned Bodega Ferrer Bobet a reputation for producing some of the finest wines in Priorat.

The terroir in Priorat is close to crazy. You have to be a bit maniacal, not to mention dedicated, to plant vineyards on rocky steep slopes such as what are typical in Priorat – a winemaker’s dream. The hills are steep with plenty of mineral in the soil, the days are hot, the nights are cool and more often than not there is a breeze coming off the Mediterranean. If you add some winemaking talent and stir, you will have some special wines.

The winery has contributed to the revitalization of the Priorat wine industry, and its story represents a successful collaboration between two individuals passionate about wine and dedicated to preserving the region’s heritage while producing world-class wines.
