Domaine Fabien Coche

Burgundy, France

Fabien Coche, a fourth-generation winemaker, assumed control of the family estate in 2005. Hailing from one of Burgundy’s most illustrious wine dynasties (Coche-Dury was part of the same lineage until 1940 and is currently managed by his cousin Raphaël), Fabien has rapidly emerged as the preeminent Coche of his generation, making significant waves in the wine world.

His prized vineyard holdings encompass nearly 11 hectares, spread across Meursault, Monthelie, Pommard, and Auxey-Duresses. Notably, Fabien Coche’s father is a first cousin of Jean-Francois Coche-Dury, and until fairly recently, their respective estates sported nearly identical labels. Fabien embarked on his winemaking journey alongside his father in 1998, and since 2005, he has taken the helm, crafting wines under his distinct labels.

This family has been committed to organic farming since 1998 across their 40 vineyard plots, accumulating two decades of experience. Impressively, over 60% of their vines have surpassed the age of 60 years. The wines originating from this estate are exceptionally pure, revealing minimal influence from the winemaker’s touch. They embrace a modest use of new oak (25%) and a noteworthy reliance on larger barrels. Fabien’s wines shine with remarkable acidity and purity. Here, one discovers a profound essence of venerable vines, yielding some of the most authentic expressions of each unique vineyard.
