The Magnien family stands as one of Burgundy’s most ancient winemaking dynasties, particularly renowned in the Côte de Nuits region, all thanks to the Domaine Henri Magnien. This family-owned estate has deep roots in Gevrey Chambertin dating back to the 1600s. Over twelve generations have embraced the remarkable terroir, primarily featuring old vines in Gevrey-Chambertin and Corton.
The current incarnation of the estate was established by Henri Magnien in 1987 and is currently overseen by Charles Magnien. Their vineyard spans across 6 hectares of venerable vines. Their approach to cultivation and winemaking is steeped in tradition. In 2018, Charles made significant investments in the cellar to further enhance the quality of their wines, inaugurating a new winery.
Their wines are characterized by abundant charm, suppleness, and elegance, embodying a classic utilization of new barrels and a judicious approach to extraction.
